Alfie Meadows is a 20 year old student who suffered bleeding to the brain after being struck by a police truncheon. His mother can be heard here, while the incident has been referred to the IPCC as is standard. There’s little context to surround this incident, other than he was in the kettled area at the time. After a 3 hour operation, Alfie is recovering in hospital but his situation is serious. Hopefully there will be more on Alfie’s case in the next few days.
With a strike to the head by a truncheon the cause of this injury, it is a surprise that only 43 protesters were (officially) injured yesterday. It is also worth remembering that, while this is a footnote to the day, it is the most major injury suffered. Had this injury been received by a police officer, the coverage would be quite different.
What a disgusting way to treat people using their right to fre speech in a so called free democracy. There has been a very one sided media coverage showing protesters as violent thugs. What about the police thuggery that was so obviously not shown. How hard did the officer hit his head with the baton? Im guessing he was not showing care to the protesters as I heard one being interviewed saying. The officer must be charged but I doubt it somehow. Hope Alfie makes a full recovery. Sadly I believe this is only the beginning of many more demos like this in the ‘Were in it all together, Broken Britain’.
Work this one out. You go to a demo where paint , fireworks and scaffolding is being used against teh cops and they start swinging their batons. Its a no brainer isnt it? He got exactly what he deserved , no sympathy here.
